Please consider the use of certified technicians because 99.9% of flooring project problems are caused by improperly prepared or incorrect assessment of job conditions or less than professional installation. Marmoleum Repairs.Understanding Jobsite ConditionsInstaller Notes: There is no substitute for accurate assessment of jobsite conditions.Using Forbo Specialty AdhesivesMarmoleum Click InstallationInstaller Notes:The current version of this product is referred to as Click II, with a light brown mdf core. The earlier version of Marmoleum Click used a green mdf core and required the use of a hammer or tapping block to install. The two products do not interlock!Inspection: Its really common to have little pieces of stray fiberboard in the grooves of this product. Be sure to take an extra moment to inspect the four sides of every single piece of flooring before you install it.

It will save you from seams that don’t close perfectly.Doorways: Everyone wants to put this flooring in with as few dryseams as possible but planning joint locations perfectly in doorways can be near impossible. Make a good woodworking joint and simply glue edge to edge.Floors Out of Plane: Peaks and valleys in the substrate can be very problematic.

Shimming up low spots in wood floors with newspaper or dense cardboard before putting down your padding can do wonders to level things up. For basements or damp locations using cement based patch material to float areas may be a better idea.Installing Long Runs: Having a VERY cooperative helper to install long runs may be ideal. It’s easy to damage the flooring if you are not pushing down to lock in concert with one another. Flooring mechanics will use wooden blocks to position the whole row in place and push down along the seam gradually and carefully.Grading your Material: Its not uncommon to damage a piece’s edge occasionally. Be sure to mark the edge as damaged with a pencil immediately so it does not get used in the middle of a floor by mistake.Planning for Waste: Its not uncommon to layout a floor with half and whole pieces but that can lead to a lot of waste for some rooms. Using a piece of graph paper for your room design and joint layout is the absolute most efficient way to plan your project.Job Conditions: This is not considered a complete list and any type of professional flooring installation should include an assessment of job conditions like temperature, moisture content, storage, handling, cleaning and special considerations.

Please be familiar with the materials you are installing by reading and following all directions, being sure to ask questions ahead of time.Marmoleum Glue Down, MCT or Dual TileInstaller Notes: Installing any of the glue down tile systems from Forbo by installers for the first time requires a change in technique and must be observed for a good installation. Basic differences are here:Different Adhesives: Forbo adhesives are a wet-set adhesive, so the experience of vinyl tile installers to let the adhesives “tack” before installation will lead to catastrophic results with Forbo Tile. All materials must be set into wet adhesive.Rolling the Work: Forbo Marmoleum requires the use of a 100 LB. Most installers own 50 or 75 LB rollers which are too light to embed the material properly.Quarter-Turning: All tile systems from Forbo require 90 degree or quarter turning.

Because of the bevel on the edges of Forbo tile, the floors should not be installed with all the tile running the same direction.Unpacking: It is considered best practice to leave all Forbo tile in the carton up to the time of installation.Job Conditions: This is not considered a complete list and any type of professional flooring installation should include an assessment of job conditions like temperature, moisture content, storage, handling, cleaning and special considerations. While many mechanics understand the concept of installing this material, actually installing it is quite different and experience makes all the difference.
